Raiders Intensify Training For Basketball Tourney
The Ondo State Bas
ketball Coach, Oluwasola Aluko, on Tuesday said he was optimistic that the state’s team, Ondo Raiders, would qualify for the national elite basketball league.
Aluko gave the assurance in an interview with newsmen after one of the team’s training sessions at the Indoor Sports Hall in Akure.
He said that the team had been in training for the past two weeks ahead of the Division One tournament scheduled for Abuja.
Aluko said that with the commitment of the players, the team would pick a slot in Abuja.
He lauded the technical, moral and financial support from the newly inaugurated state basketball board led by a veteran basketball administrator, Oluwasegun Ikuesan.
“The team will use its home-based players and will not recruit strange hands.
“A total of twenty five players were screened and seventeen have been selected ahead of the tournament,’’ he said.
Tidesports gathered that the national basketball Division One tournament will commence on November 18 and end on November, 26.
