NLC, ASUU Plan Joint Conference On Economy
The Nigeria Labour
Congress (NLC) and the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), have indicated their interest to hold a joint conference on the state of the nation’s economy.
This was disclosed in a statement issued in Lagos on Wednesday by the National President of ASUU, Prof. Bioden Ogilunyemi, stressing that the conference is in response to the biting effects of the dwindling fortunes of the country’s economy in this period of recession.
Ogunyemi said that it was imperative for the NLC to provide solutions to the economic challenges facing the workers and Nigerians.
He said that both unions would soon bring in experts and professionals to guide Nigeria’s leaders on the proper ways to handle the country’s wobbling economy.
He emphasized that World Bank and International Monetary Fund (IMF) recommend policies can not work or help Nigerians in this period of economic recession.
