Healthcare: Pharmacist Wants Corporate Bodies To Support Govt

A healthcare service insti
tution in Port Harcourt , the Rivers State Capital, has urged private business organisations to synergise and complement the efforts of government in the provision of healthcare services.
The Managing Director of Citypills Pharmacy and Stores Ltd, Mrs Tobechukwu Gabriel, who made the call when her organisation carried out free medical examinations and medications to the people of Oro-ekpo in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State, noted that Citypills Pharmacy embarked in the exercise as part of their corporate social responsibilities and a way of giving back to society seeing that the recession is denying so many people access to quality healthcare services.
Mrs Gabriel who commended the efforts of the government of Chief Nyesom Wike in the area of healthcare services and the support given to owners of private health institutions in the state, called on private organizations to support the efforts of government by providing laudable services to the people in their areas of operation. According to her, such acts will help to stem the rate of criminality in the society even as it will also help to save money for the citizenry.
The pharmacist said that “since health is wealth and knowing that poverty and ignorance have kept many from accessing quality healthcare services, my organization has always provided free blood pressure check for its customers and residents of the community since its inception two years ago”.
The organization also announced its plans to take its free medical examinations and medications to other rural communities in the state, saying that the future events would be targeted at young people who were involved in cultism and were unemployed saying this group of people need to know their health status and the dangers their involvement in criminality can to their health.
Some residents of Oro-ekpo who benefitted from the free medical examination and free medication of the pharmacy commended the efforts of the management, calling on others to borrow a leaf from the organisation.
