Wike Unveils Plans To Develop Ogoniland

nor, Chief Nyesom Wike says infrastructure and security will be his major policy thrusts to develop Ogoniland.
He gave the assurance when he met with students and stakeholders at Kenule Beeson Saro-Wiwa Polytechnic in Bori, Khana Local Government Area, recently.
Wike told Ogoni people that his administration will continue to execute critical infrastructure projects in the area for the sustained development and empowerment of the people.
On security, he disclosed that in order to ensure safety of lives and property in the area, the government has started overhauling security architecture in Ogoniland.
He said: “We have been able to make Port Harcourt and its environs safer for residents. Now, we will improve on the security of Bori and other communities in Ogoniland.
“We are supporting security agencies through the provision of the necessary logistics to tackle crime. We will take the battle to the criminals in all their hideouts”, he assured.
He called on the people of the Ogoni ethnic nationality to always support the state government to execute more projects in their land.
The governor told Ogoni stakeholders that his administration will complete the Saakpwenwa-Bori Road, the rehabilitation of the Birabi Memorial Grammar School, Bori, and the development of infrastructure at the Kenule Beeson Saro-Wiwa Polytechnic, Bori.
The meeting between the governor and Ogoni stakeholders held at the Kenule Beeson Saro-Wiwa Polytechnic, witnessed the presence of intellectuals, students, Ogoni traditional rulers, youth and women, was coming few weeks after the governor kick-started the Saapkenwa-Bori Road dualisation.
He told the stakeholders that he had no plans to re-locate the Kenule Beeson Saro-Wiwa Polytechnic as alleged by some political opponents.
He noted that his plans for the school was to invest in quality resources through increased grants and the execution of projects that will lead to the accreditation of all the academic programmes in the institution.
Thousands of students, residents and leaders trooped out to welcome Governor Wike and his entourage during the visit.
