Traditional Rulers Task Nkoro Indigenes On Peace
A call has gone to the
people of Nkoro, in Opobo/Nkoro Local Government Area of Rivers State to see themselves as Ambassadors of Peace so as to engender development in the state and the nation at large.
The Secretary of Nkoro Council of Traditional Rulers, Alabo Philip I.T. Bara, made the call at an event to honour 15 distinguished sons of Nkoro kingdom with the traditional title of Amaopu Seniapu.
The council scribe said the essence of the investiture was to reward men and women who had dedicated themselves to the unity, peace and development of the Kingdom, noting that by being ambassadors of peace, they would build synergy with the chiefs and other arms of the Kingdom in the administration of the Kingdom.
Bara expressed confidence that the necognition would spur the awardees to put in more effort for the progress of the kingdom and urged them to sustain the peace by making more sacrifices in lifting the indigent ones in the kingdom.
Among those bestowed with the title included, Capt. Paul S Akins (rted), Calvin I. Alagoa, Francis Sokari, Hon Emmanuel Taribo, and Elder Reuben Sanga.
Others were, Elder Christian Assiah, Capt Jackson Fubara, Hon Andrew Miller, Hon Patrick Alapuersika and Hon Sir Minawari Diepiriye.
The rest were Steve Orubienimigha, J.O. Wariboko, Elder Adolphus Orubienimighan and Elder Louis Fiberesima.
Responding on behalf of the awardees, Amaopusenibo Calvin Alagoa, said the investiture was a reactivation of the spirits of the founding fathers of the kingdom and true essence of Ijaw culture where hard work, valour and excellence was publicly recognized as a motivator.
Noting that recognition comes with added responsibility, Alagoa promised that the recipients would do their best in reviving the lost values and essence of the kingdom and commended the chiefs for the honour done the awardeeds.
