‘PH Pleasure Park’ll Transform Rivers Economy’

The Rivers State Governor, Chief Nyesom Wike, has stated that the Port Harcourt Pleasure Park will transform the economy of the state as it will be a major revenue earner, when completed.
Wike also announced that the Igwuruta-Chokocho Road leading to the food basket of Rivers State will be completed and commissioned by September, this year.
Addressing journalists at the weekend after inspecting on-going construction work at the project site, Wike said the park will attract tourists from within and outside the country.
The governor noted that even holiday makers from the state who travel out of the country for their vacations, will also patronise the ultra-modern Port Harcourt Pleasure Park.
He said: “I am impressed by the progress of work at the site. The excavation process is on, and by next week, more work would have been done. We are determined to construct a park of international standard because it will help us conserve foreign exchange as people will visit the park instead of travelling overseas.
“We will bring back Port Harcourt as the tourists’ centre of Nigeria. By December this year, this park will be completed and put to use”, he assured.
Commenting on the Igwuruta-Chokocho Road which is a federal road, Wike expressed happiness with the pace of work by the contractors, adding that expansion works would require demolition of existing structures.
He said that the Rivers State Government will pay the necessary compensation to the owners of the structures for the contractors to continue work.
The governor commended the people of Ikwerre and Etche local government areas for their support to the contractors.
He was accompanied on the project inspection by top government functionaries at the state and local government levels.
