Expert Tasks RSG On Crime Check Via ICT
The Rivers State Govern
ment has been charged to use available technology in curbing crime rate in the state.
A retired Air Force chief, Squadron Fola Ano, who is also a specialist in the use of the technology for security at a forum for investors in Rivers State, pointed out that the challenge with the security was lack of supervision.
Ano said with the provision of basic technology driving supervision, crime could be controlled in Rivers State.
He also said the availability of smart phones in the hands of Nigerians were ready tools for intelligence reporting to the police for reduction of crime in any part of the country.
The Squadron leader further stated that an application he developed for job creation and security control is now available on the Android Play Store and is now going through necessary military check for use in Nigeria.
Meanwhile, over 300 displaced persons from Zor Sogho community in Khana Local Government Area taking refuge at Ueken Community in the Tai Local Government Area have been sent packing by suspected cultists.
The people of Zor Sogho community fled to Ueken community penultimate Tuesday after suspected cultists burnt twelve homes and injured several persons during cult-crisis in the community.
The youth president of Zor Sogho community, Marcus Ndinee, said his people were chased away from Ueken community by the community leaders for fear of being attacked.
He called on government to come to the aid of Zor Sogho community.
However, when contacted, the Youth President of Ueken community, Nna Erekpana, said the people were asked to leave the community following alleged failure of the elders to resolve the cult-crisis.
