Wike Charges Couples On Marriage
Rivers State Governor, Chief
Nyesom Wike, has charged married couples to anchor their marriage on God.
He gave the charge during the solemnisation of marriage between daughter of Archbishop of Niger Delta Province, Josephine Kattey and Eberonwu Nwagbo at the St. Stephen’s Anglican Church, Alode Eleme, Rivers State.
Wike said couples need to go back to the basics as he commended the sermon of Primate of Anglican Church, Dr, Nicholas Okoh, noting that “The preaching of the primate has said it all. I thought before now I knew it all. l thank the Primate for today’s sermon and wish to tell the newly wedded couple to make sure their marriage is anchored on God. They should put God first in all they do and should not allow friends interfere in their marriage.”
Wike also warned couples to avoid the pitfall of allowing a third party to settle their squabbles, but rather should do so between themselves.
He used the service to restate the resolve of his administration to transform the state as he fulfilled his pledge to the church building project.
Earlier in his sermon, Primate of the Anglican Church, Most Rev. Nicholas Okoh, had enjoined the newly wedded couple to always adopt on God’s principles, stressing that success of every marriage is to put God first. The primate reminded them that marriage is a divine institution for Christian maturity hence they should face challenges together to achieve a blissful union.
He charged them to trust each other, saying with trust their marriage will last.
On his part, the Archbishop of the Niger Delta Province, Most Rev. Ignatius Kattey, thanked the governor for gracing the occasion and the donating for the church building project.
