Amaechi Votes, Decries Inadequate Security At Polling Units
Rivers State Governor
Chibuike Amaechi said last Saturday that security personnel deployed to the state to man polling units were inadequate.
Amaechi made the observation after voting at Unit 14, Ubima, Ikwerre Local Hovernment Area of the state.
Amaechi, who cast his vote at 2.05 p.m., said he was not happy on the inability of the security operatives to man the units.
The governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Mr Nyesom Wike, cast his vote at Rumueprikom, ward 9, Obio/Akpor Local Government Area.
He said after casting his vote that he was impressed with the voter turn-out and decried reports that election materials were hijacked by PDP agents.
In Abua/Odual Local Government Area, voting commenced late in some poling units.
A voter, Mr Jacob Isaac, however, said he did not have any problem with the Card Reader during accreditation.
‘’ During the presidential election, the machine failed some of us. But today, it accredited so many voters and we have cast our ballot,’’ he said.
Another voter, Mrs Comfort Iboh, said she had voted and was happy with the process.
‘’ Today’s election is better than the presidential poll. Everything went on smoothly and we did not have any problem,’’ she said.
