Omoku CDC Chairman Preaches Peace
The people of Omoku in
Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Government Area of Rivers State have been enjoined to shun violence, embrace peace and love one another before, during and after the elections.
The chairman, Community Development Committee (CDC) in Omoku, Dr Mbadiwe Woko made the call during a peace rally organised by a Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) search for common ground, Omoku and the three major quarters of Obieti, Obakata and Usomini on Thursday.
Woko, who spoke through Adah Esther said the people of Omoku needed peace and protection as it is their only home, stressing that the communities do not belong to any political party and therefore, no one should fight, kill and destroy themselves and their communities.
He appealed for all to forget and forgive each other and shun the tendency of killing, kidnapping, cultism and other vices criminal to the norms of the society, saying “no development strives in a crisis-ridden community.”
The Omoku CDC boss urged all to take the message home and preach peace, love, forgiveness and shun cultism, while thanking the organizers on behalf of the Oba of Ogbaland, Oba Chukwumeka Nnam-Obi II for the rally and the large turn-up.
In her speech, the campaign coordinator and chairman, Local Project Committee at Omoku, Miss Esther Adah reiterated the need for the people of Ogba to embrace peace, stressing that Omoku, an oil producing area had been blessed by God.
Adah also thanked God for the successful rally, and lauded UNSAID and search for common ground for choosing Omoku as one of the communities for the rally and thanked all for their massive participation.
