NDDC Hails Amaechi’s Transformation Of RSUST
The Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) has attributed the level of transformation in the Rivers State University of Science and Technology to the generosity and support of Governor Chibiuke Amaechi to the institution.
The Managing Director of the commission, Chief Dan Abia, who said this at the 27th convocation exhibition ceremony of the university last Wednesday in Port Harcourt, also pledged the readiness of the commission to sustain its current level of partnership with the institution.
The NDDC Managing Director who was represented by the commissioner representing, Rivers State on the board of the commission, Chief Dr Ephraim Sobere Etete Owoh, also commended the management of the institution for its emphasis on e-learning.
He said that the commission was partnering with the university in areas of manpower development through scholarship programmes, while an hostel currently being constructed by the commission would be completed within the next one week.
The commission’s Managing Director also described the level of the exhibition as very high, adding that every department involved in the programme had done very well.
Earlier, the Vice Chancellor of the university, Prof Barineme Fakae had said that the exhibition was to make a statement that the university was in serious business of researches with a view to solving the problems of the Niger Delta.
Prof Fakae also said that the quality of researches in the institution had confirmed that if supported, the university could be self sustaining.
The Vice Chancellor said that the university had utilized the support it receives from the corporate world such as the Niger Delta Development Commission and others to improve its services.
He listed some of the university’s achievements to include the construction of a power house while efforts were on to build a virtual learning centre with a view of giving students wider opportunity for learning.
The Vice Chancellor solicited more investment by the corporate world in the university, assuring that any investment made would not be a waste.
“The university is serious and anything given to its will go extra miles to improve its services”, he said.
