Monarch Sues For Peace In Abua
His Royal Majesty, Mayor
Job Umah II, JP, Uwema Ogbo Abuan has reiterated his call on the federal and state governments to urgently reinforce the security apparatus in Abua to combat the rising wave of violence and criminal activities in Abua/Odual Local Government Area of Rivers State in order to ensure peaceful conduct of the general elections in the area.
His Majesty, Mayor Umah II made the call while speaking to a cross section of Abua chiefs and youths who visited him in his palace at Ogbo Abuan recently to congratulate him on the elevation of his stool to first class status by the Rivers State Government
He also strongly advised the political leaders and the youths in the LGA to exercise utmost restraint in the conduct of their political activities especially now that they are rounding off their political campaigns in readiness for the general election next week.
The Uwema Ogbo Abuan regretted that politicians had turned politics into a game of bitterness and violence and warned that the gods of Abua land would not take kindly with anybody or group of people who damaged properties and spilled innocent peoples blood on Abuan soil in the name of politics, stressing that the game of politics should not be seen as a do or die affair.
The Uwema Ogbo Abuan also strongly condemned the ugly incident that occurred during the campaign visit of the PDP gubernatorial candidate Chief (Barr) Nyeson Wike to Abua on January 2015 during which some Abuan youths reportedly lost their lives.
His Majesty, Mayor Umah II said he was pained, disappointed and embarrassed by that ugly incident because it deprived him of the opportunity of hosting the PDP gubernatorial palace stressing that as a traditional ruler his doors were wide open to all shades of opinion.
He warned against persons trying to cause disunity and discrimination among the people of Abua in the name of politics or religion, pointing out that Abua had been peaceful and united.
