Buhari Speaks On Nigeria’s Transition At Chatham House,’Morrow

Following insinuations in some quarters that the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate, Gen Muhammadu Buhari, travelled to the United Kingdom for medical treatment, the campaign office of the presidential candidate, has issued a statement confirming that Buhari is actually in the United Kingdom, and “would hopefully give a talk at the prestigious foreign policy hub, the Royal Institute of International Affairs, Chatham House, in London.”
Also, Chatham House has confirmed that Buhari will appear before and speak to the distinguished foreign policy think-tank on the topic: “Prospects for Democratic Consolidation in Africa: Nigeria’s Transition”, in London, today.
The Tide investigation show that details of the event as posted on the website of Chatham House also revealed that Buhari would speak for one hour between 10 and 11am.
The Tide further gathered that the event would be chaired by the British High Commissioner to Nigeria, Richard Gozney, between 2004 and 2007.
Chatham House also encouraged interested persons to send questions to Buhari via Twitter for the key speaker.
“Send questions for the speaker by using #CHAfrica on Twitter. A selection of the questions will be put to him during the event,” it said.
Meanwhile, there have been speculations in Nigeria that a picture showing former British Prime Minister, Tony Blair, Muhammadu Buhari, Ogun State Governor, Ibikunle Amosun as well as a former Kwara State governor, Sen Bukola Saraki, was photo-shopped.
The APC presidential candidate’s campaign office had stated that the former head of state was in the UK on a working visit.
However, Governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose and some supporters of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), are claiming that Buhari is in the UK for medical treatment.
To buttress their claim, some of the critics insisted that Blair was not in the UK on Saturday, and could therefore not have met Buhari in London.
But our correspondent, who contacted Blair’s office on Monday for confirmation, was told that the former British PM actually held a private meeting with the candidate of the APC, Muhammadu Buhari, in London on Saturday.
In an email response, Ms Rianne Buter stated that, “Blair had a private meeting with General Muhammadu Buhari in London.”
Ms. Buter also said that Blair “hopes to visit Nigeria shortly when he will see the President”.

HoS Hails Fubara Over Provision of Accommodation for Permanent Secretaries

The Head of Service (HoS) of Rivers State, Dr. Mrs. Inyingi S. I. Brown, has commended Governor Sir Siminalayi Fubara, GSSRS, for approving befitting accommodation for Permanent Secretaries in the state.
This commendation was contained in a press release made available to newsmen in Port Harcourt.
According to the Head of Service, Governor Fubara has continued to demonstrate uncommon commitment to the welfare of civil servants in Rivers State, stressing that such gestures underscore his people-oriented leadership style. She urged civil servants across the state to remain supportive of the governor’s administration in order to sustain good governance and effective public service delivery.
Speaking on behalf of the Body of Permanent Secretaries, Dr. Brown congratulated Governor Fubara on the occasion of his 51st birthday, describing him as “a Governor who leads by serving.”
She further praised the governor’s service-driven and people-centred leadership approach, noting that it has significantly contributed to institutional stability and improved efficiency within the state’s public service. Special appreciation was expressed for the approval of a befitting accommodation complex for Permanent Secretaries, which she said reflects the governor’s commitment to staff welfare and enhanced productivity.
As part of activities to mark the governor’s birthday, the Body of Permanent Secretaries announced the sponsorship of 329 Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) forms for indigent students across the state.
A breakdown of the initiative shows that 319 forms will be distributed across the 319 political wards in Rivers State, while five forms are allocated to non-indigenes and five forms to persons living with disabilities.

The Body of Permanent Secretaries wished Governor Fubara continued good health, divine wisdom, and greater accomplishments in his service to the people of Rivers State.

Allegation of Disrespect to President Tinubu Unfounded — Rivers Government
