You Don’t Have Opposition, Elemes Tell Abe
The people of Eleme Local Government Area in the Rivers South-East Senatorial District have assured Senator Magnus Abe, seeking re-election to the Senate on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), that he has no opposition in the February 14, 2015 general elections.
This is as they described the choice of their kinsman, Olaka Wogu, by the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) to fly its senatorial flag as an assault and a manifestation of hatred for the people of Eleme.
They stated this through their representative in the state Assembly, Josiah Olu, CTC Chairman, Awalanta Ejire, Paramount Ruler of Ogale Clan, Emere Bebe Ukpabi, and President-General, Eleme General Assembly, Jonah Chujor, at an event in Ogale initiated to endorse Senator Abe for re-election.
The people expressed surprise at the choice of Wogu, whom they say was tested for 12 years as a member of the House of Representatives but failed them, stressing that the people will reject him at the polls with their votes.
“We sent Olaka Wogu on an errand for 12 years, he did not return; all he did was built hotels and mansions while the surrounding houses were shanties. He said that he has changed, if he did not change in 12 years even as he occupied the juice position of Chairman, House Committee on NDDC. Is it now he will change?” They ask.
They said, “As we speak, our communities have started facing harassment, our youths are on the run, our women are being molested and several cases of intimidation simply because he is the standard bearer of a party; meaning, if we vote him we will pack out of our land”.
They assured Senator Ngei Abe, who was born in Eleme that the people will vote him massively because they have benefitted immensely from his representation in the Senate.
“Senator, you are a true son of Eleme, you have represented us well; our people have benefitted from your educational initiatives, skill acquisition programmes, water projects, empowerment schemes, health programmes, infrastructural development; you are humble, a team player and accessible; Eleme peoples’ appreciation will manifest on the 14th of February, 2015 through votes”.
Responding, Senator Abe thanked the people for acknowledging the little he had put on the table, urging them to vote APC and defend their votes in the forthcoming elections as a way of concretizing their endorsement of the party.
“This election is very important to the future of this country; APC is an agent of change and those that can guarantee this future for Eleme people are General Muhammadu Buhari, as president, Dakuku Peterside as governor, Magnus Abe as senator, Barry Mpigi in the House of Representatives and Josiah Olu in the state Assembly”, he concluded.
