Monarch Warns Against Violence At Burial Ceremonies
Youths in Emohua have
been charged to exercise caution and moderation during celebrations and other ceremonies in order not to undermine peace and security of the area and its neighbouring communities.
They have also been advised to engage in activities that would enhance their livelihood and social status.
The paramount ruler of Ubimini Community in Emohua Local Government Area of Rivers State, Eze Orduigwe Osah Orduigwe gave the charge in his palace during a meeting with the youth group.
Ordiugwe who is also the Ochije Ohaneze Ubimini Motu of Ubinini land recalled a recent incident of the use of masquerades during a burial ceremony which nearly led to a breakdown of law and order between Ubimini and neighbouring Awarra community in Ohaji Local Government Area of Imo State. He commended the historical and peaceful relationship between Ubimini and Awarra communities which, he said enabled them overcome all threats to their peaceful relationship. Eze Orduigwe congratulated Chief S. Umah on his presentation as t he head of farmers in the area to the ruling council.
The paramount ruler clarified that Chief Eze’s proposed installation has nothing to do with the Kingship of Ubimini.
According to him, Chief Eze’s installation as the “Head of Yam”, is at the instance of Awarra Farmers Association in collaboration with the Ubimini Review Membership in Rivers State.
The monarch called on the citizenry to support the ceremony in order to maintain the cultural relationship between both states.
Ordiuigwe also warned that any person who permits cattle grazing in areas not designated for grazing would be guilty of an offense and would on conviction be laible to imprisonment in line with the tradition of the area.
