Sekibo Harps On Peace, Unity In Ogu/Bolo
The Senator representing
Rivers East Senatorial District in the National Assembly, Senator George Thompson Sekibo, has called on the people of Ogu in Ogu/Bolo Local Government Area of Rivers State to continue to live in peace and unity so as to achieve their collective goals.
Senator Sekibo made the call during a special reception organised by the Amanyanabo of Ogu Kingdom, King Nicholas Ibiebele Nimenibo Loko IX, the chiefs and people of Ogu in honour of his conferment with the National Award of Commander of the Order of the Niger (CON), held at the Ogu Mini-Stadium last Saturday.
According to him, with one voice and unity of purpose, their dreams would always come true, and assured that as a Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, he would strive to represent the people of Rivers State in general with dignity, honour and without fear or favour.
“The people of Ogu Kingdom are lucky as God always answers their prayers and that of their forefathers”, he said, adding that he would continue to be humble and serve them with all his strength to justify the confidence reposed in him.
Sekibo, who is also the Chief of Etem War Canoe House of Ogu thanked the people for the honour done him and promised to be ever loyal and work towards the good of the people, as he also thanked the President for deeming him fit for national honour.
In their separate speeches, the Chairman, Ogu Divisional Council of Chiefs, Chief Mark Daso Derefaka, a retired Major General, Iworiboye Iruenabere, a former National President of Ijaw National Congress (INC), Dr. Atuboyediari Obianime, one time Chairman, Ogu/Bolo Council of Chiefs, Chief Dan-Ockiya Oforibo Kakako among others extolled the qualities of Senator George Sekibo, describing the honour as well deserved.
