Governor Ameachi Applauds Obio/Akpor CTC For Boosting Electricity
Rivers State Governor and
Chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Ameachi has applauded the caretaker committee (CTC) of Obio/Akpor Local Government Area for donating 22 500KVA transformers to boost electricity supply in 17 wards of the area.
The governor also lauded the CTC for donating four 18- seater buses to council of chiefs of three autonomous communities, and youth association in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area.
Governor Ameachi, who was represented by the Chief of Staff, Government House, Port Harcourt, Chief Tony Okocha commended the CTC while unveiling of the transformers and buses at the council’s headquarters at Rumuodomanya.
The Governor described the gesture as a demonstration of selfless and credible leadership aimed at bringing government to the door-steps of the rural dwellers.
“I congratulate you, particularly the chairman, Dr. Lawrence Chukwu on the level of performance in the past three months as CTC boss in the area.
“This is to say success has so many relatives, while failure is an orphan, continue on this developmental gestures to improve the welfare of people at the grassroots.” the governor said.
He charged other CTC chairmen of the state to emulate their Obio/Akpor colleague in providing tangible and developmental projects for their people.
He also urged the people of Obio/Akpor to support All Progressives Congress (APC) to attract more development to the state come 2015.
Governor Ameachi further advised stakeholders of the area to ensure that the transformers, the buses and other projects executed in the area were guarded jealously.
Earlier, the CTC chairman of Obio/Akpor Council had explained that the provision of the transformers and buses was in line with the vision of Governor Ameachi-led administration in the state.
According to him, the council decided to embark on the provision of transformers in the three communities for constant distribution of electricity to encourage those already empowered by the council to grow in their various businesses, while the buses would help the chiefs in the discharge of their duties.
He thanked the governor for the commissioning and reiterated the commitment of the council to do more to make life more meaningful for the people.
He also assured the governor and the APC leaders of the support of Obio/Akpor people to the party.
Also speaking, the Nye-Weli of Akpor kingdom, King Anele Orlu-Oriebe thanked the council for the gesture.
