Expert Clears Air On Blacberry Data Storage
Following the hot argu
ment surrounding the Blackberry data storage system, stakeholders in the Information and Communication Technology (ICT), have cleared air on the issue, saying that it is not safe enough.
The Chief Executive Officer, Main One Cable, Ms Funke Opeke, explained that such data or information may not be safe enough in a foreign server.
The ICT expert, who spoke at a recent event in Enugu, noted that the information could be used for other things that may be detrimental to the security of the country and its citizens.
Opeke also appealed to both the Federal Government and the private sector to see infrastructure as important, mainly where it touches on content.
She hinted that most chats in Blackberry Messenger (BBM) which people view as private was not true, saying that is hosted in the BB server, adding that it is not safe enough for security reasons.
Similarly, due to the quest to counteract unnecessary data depletion while browsing the internet, smile communications has introduced new features known as Blocking Buttons and Speed control.
The Chief Corporate Services Officer of the Company (SMILE), Lee-Ann Cassie noted that the system was introduced to promote customer experience while on the internet.
She hinted that they have equally discovered remedy to some expensive websites, and have as well blocked them.
Cassie, linked the discovery as the major cause for data depletion and other issues.
