We Have Not Sold Hotel Presidential – Amaechi
The Rivers State Gov
ernment has dismissed media reports that it has sold the state-owned Hotel Presidential in Port Harcourt.
In a statement signed and made available to The Tide by the Commissioner for Commerce and Industry, Mr Chuma Chinye, who represented the governor at the Rivers State Entrepreneurs and Investment Forum, said the government had no plans to sell the hotel.
Rather than sell the hotel, the governor said – government was weighing the option of privatising it for maximum output.
The governor cited the case of former Supabod, now SPAR and Olympia Hotel which have been privatised.
He also disclosed that government was sourcing for investors for the concessioning of Delta Hotels following the success examples of Olympia Hotel, where construction work was ongoing.
