New Faces To Watch In Nollywood Screen
Gone are the days when
faces like Genevieve Nnaji, Omotola Jalade-Ekehinde Rita Dominic, Stephanie Okereke, Ini Edo, Mercy Johnson, Tonto Dike, Monalisa Chinda etc dorminated the Nollywood sceen. Today, new screen divas have emerged and they are making waves in the industry, among them are:
Evelyn Esin: This is one actress that has carved a nitche for herself in Nollywood. This Oron, Akwa Ibom State born actress who debuted in the film ‘Indecent desire’ in 2005 has gained prominence in the industry in the last three years as she features in lead roles in most of the movies.
Eve, as she is popularly called, started acting as a little girl in church and later read Theatre Arts at the University of Calabar. She has featured in many flicks including Sins Of The Past, Hand Of Fate, Brave Mind, Eno, Deep Water, Idemili, The Enemy I See, Tonia, Etc.
Biola Ige: This Osun State born actress and University of Jos graduate has featured in over 20 movies including Blackmail, Holycity, My Fantasy Ground Player, Dearest Link, My Flabour And Pregnant Hawkers, amongst others.
It was gathered that a semi made picture of Biola which surfaced on line some months back embroiled her in a steamy controversy. The picture which was taken on the set of Pregnant Hawkers with Muna Obiekwe was scandalous as it showed Muna kissing her breasts.
Angela Okorie: The former Delta soap model came into limelight with her performance in the movie ‘Holy Serpent’ in 2009.
The Ebonyi State born actress who was brought up in Cotonou, Benin Republic started modeling for Delta Soap at the age of 18, a job she held for almost ten years before she joined the movie industry.
She read Public Administration at Lagos State University (LASU) and currently studying Theatre Arts at the University of Lagos. She has featured in many films including: Maidens, Heart Of A Widow, Girls In The Hood, Soul Mate, Girls On Point, Stolen Desire Etc. She is Married to Chukwuma Orizu and they have a son.
Banko Adewunmi: She is one of the toasts of movie producers right now. A graduate of Microbiology Olabisi Onabanjo University (OOU), Ago Iwoye, Ogun State. The Ogun State born role interpreter went into acing in 2010 and has featured in quite a number of filming including Ifegbna, King Search, Ejatutu, Oruka Ojosc.

They Booed, Threw Bottles At Me – Tems Recounts
R&B star, Temilade Openiyi, popularly known as Tems, has recounted the early-career challenges she faced, revealing that she was once booed out of the stage while performing at a school event.
Speaking in an interview with Newsmen, the Crazy Tings crooner shared that she wasn’t only booed but was also harassed with plastic bottles.
“I remember one time I was going to perform at my school as an up-and-coming singer and I thought I was going to receiving a standing ovation.
“But I got booed. They even threw plastic bottles at me,” she recalled.
Tems explained that despite the embarrassing incident and other such rejections, she remained determined to pursue a career in music.
The Tide Entertainment reports that Tems admitted that some of the initial rejections she faced could be due to her conviction to stick to her originality instead of doing covers or familiar sounds like most of her peers.
The Grammy-winning singer said looking back now, she is glad that she didn’t compromise her style despite the initial pressures.

Primeboy Pleads For Mohbad’s Burial
A close associate of late singer Mohbad, Primeboy, has appealed for the artiste’s burial nearly three years after his death.
According to him, Mohbad’s body remains in the mortuary since September 12, 2023, pending burial arrangements.
The Tide Entertainment reports that in a statement Primeboy urged the family, public, and government to permit the burial, stating, “It’s been almost three years since Mohbad left us. His body is still in the mortuary. I’m begging the family, I’m begging the public, I’m begging the government, please let’s bury our brother. He deserves a befitting burial.”
It would be recalled that Mohbad’s death sparked public outrage, protests, and investigations. Ongoing autopsy examinations, police inquiries, and legal proceedings have delayed burial arrangements amid family disagreements and public scrutiny.
