Empowerment: Adamawa Govt Trains 150 Women
Adamawa Government
says it has trained 150 women in bakery business under the Local Apprenticeship Scheme (LAS).
The LAS Project Manager, Alhaji Sani J
\ada, said at the graduation ceremony of the trainees in Yola recently, that the beneficiaries were from the Central Senatorial Zone.
Jada said that similar training would be organise for women in Southern and Northern senatorial zones soon.
He said the training was done in conjunction with the Home Economics Unit of the Federal College of Education (FCE), Yola, and the North East Entrepreneurship Development Centre.
Jada said the graduate trainees would be given free oven and also assisted to access funds from financial institutions to establish their businesses.
The Provost of FCE, Prof Abdulmumini Sa’ad, lauded Adamawa government for introducing the programme and assured that the institution would continue to partner with the government in its empowerment programmes.
Sa’ad urged the graduates to make good use of the opportunities provided by the programme to better their lives and that of their families.
In his message to the occasion, Governor Murtala Nyako, reiterated his administration’s commitment to empower the people, particularly the underprivileged.
Nyako urged the beneficiaries to spread the gesture of the government, by training one person each.
The governor, who was represented by his Director, Press and Public Affairs, Mallam Ahmad Sajoh, also called for special prayers for peace in the state and the nation in general.
