Abduction: LG Bosses Vulnerable
The immediate past Chair
man of Ahoada-West Local Government Area of Rivers State, Hon Awori Miller has said that council Chairmen are the most vulnerable people for kidnappers in the state.
Miler who disclosed this in an exclusive interview with The Tide in Port Harcourt, while narriating his ordeal during his captivity in the hands of kidnappers recently said the experience was terrible and sad.
He said he was tortured and battered by his abductors because of his inability to raise the N600 million ransom they demanded, adding that the kidnappers did not believe that council chairmen do not have money.
The former Awelga boss denied that his kidnap was politically-motivated but attributed it to lack of job by youths, adding that it was the effect of a failed nation.
Miller opined that Nigeria as a country has failed in terms of providing employment and security of life to the people, adding that if employment opportunities are created for the teeming youths, the crime rate in the society would have reduced.
The erstwhile council boss called for the establishment of state police to address the challenges of security confronting the nation, adding that the establishment of state police would enable each state to be responsible for security in their respective states.
