Don Proffers Solution To Slow Economic Growth
A university teacher,
Dr Harry Ogbonna has said that acquisition of managerial skills by the large army of small and medium scale entrepreneur is the Panacea for sustained economic growth in the country.
He said that good sales and marketing skills were potent management vehicles to expand income and product distribution.
Ogbonna, a lecturer in economics department at the federal university, Wukari in Taraba State, and an indigene of Rivers State who disclosed this to The Tide on his visit to Port Harcourt, said that good business skills were key to meeting projections.
According to him, sales promotions are some of the ways of penetrating the market and they should be organised quarterly in every business to attract interest.
He said “seminars ought to be held to create awareness and introduce new products to the market. One of the basics of good business management was for entrepreneurs to recruit workers with experience and passion for the job”.
The don maintained that tin staff recruitment, entrepreneurs needed to select people based on their competence and ability to do the job, pointing out that since operational cost of business is hinged on finance, using the scale of preference will tackle problems based on importance of needs.
Ogbonna, however, posited that these tools will increase the financial intelligence of entrepreneurs in business management.
In the area of information technology, he stated that there are many software programmes that were designed by experts to aid entrepreneurs.

“The approved selling prices are as follows: One-bedroom semi-detached bungalow, N8.5 million; two-bedroom semi-detached bungalow: N11.5 million and three-bedroom semi-detached bungalow, N12.5 million,” the statement added.
Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Ahmed Dangiwa, stated that priority in the allocation of the housing units would be given to low and middle-income earners, civil servants at all levels of government, employees in the organised private sector with verifiable sources of income, and Nigerians in the Diaspora who wish to own homes in the country.
The Permanent Secretary in the ministry, Dr. Shuaib Belgore, explained that several payment options have been provided to make the houses affordable and flexible. These include outright (full) payment, mortgage, rent-to-own scheme, and installment payment plans.
The ministry further announced that the sale of the completed housing units across the northern and southern regions will soon commence.
“Applications can be made through the Renewed Hope Housing online portal at www.renewedhopehomes.fmhud.
The ministry, however, clarified that the approved prices apply strictly to the Renewed Hope Housing Estates which are funded through the ministry’s budgetary allocation, as against the Renewed Hope Cities in Karsana Abuja, Janguza Kano, Ibeju Lekki, Lagos which are being funded through a Public Private Partnership (PPP).
