Naval Chief Advises Officers On Dedication To Duty
The Chief of Naval Staff (CNS), Vice Admiral Dele Ezeoba, has called on officers of the Nigerian Navy to be dedicated and committed to duty to move the service forward.
Ezeoba, who made the call when he decorated 25 newly promoted officers to the rank of Navy Commodore, recently, said the officers decorated were selected from the lots that were presented for promotion, noting that their elevation” is a reflection of trust and above all commitment and more dedication to duty.
“I also want to quickly add that having got to this stage, it becomes more difficult and more challenging to go higher than you have gone.
“So, it is only those who understand the dynamics, the need to be more focused, result-oriented, have capacity to think outside the box and add value to the system that will find the grace to go beyond this rank.
Ezeoba told the officers that it was time to rethink and begin to do things that would stand them out in the pack.
“Gentlemen, it is a very difficult process.
“So, you must see this opportunity for you to reshape, refocus and take full ownership of the Nigerian Navy because the future of the navy belongs to you.
“It is only then you can have the right to accept that you have a responsibility, so that the generation before you that bequeathed the legacy to you will be proud of you.
“And the generation after you will have hopes that they have leaders they can look up for responsibility and purposeful leadership”, he said.
Responding on behalf of the promoted officers, Commodore Michael Ebe, restated the commitment of the officers to uplift the standard of the navy to an enviable height.
Ebe, who thanked the Federal Government and CNS, said the officers would do this through hardwork, dedication and commitment to duty.
“I want to, on behalf of the newly decorated officers, reassure you of our loyalty to the Federal Government and the Chief of Naval Staff.
“We have resolved to increase our output and rededicate ourselves to the service.
