Customs Realises N241m In 10 Months

Nassarawa States commands of the Nigerian Customs Service have generated over 241 million between January and October, 2013
The command, ensured that industries operating in the states paid their correct exercise duty, hence the landmark revenue hit.
As at the end of October 2013, the Command under Alhaji Sulaiman M S J, a Deputy Controller had collected over N241miiiiom as revenue (a figure exceeding its 2013 revenue target of about N190 million.
The collected revenue as at October this year also exceeds the total collection of N168, 691, 56.06 made between January and December 2012.
Alhaji Sulaiman, the Customs Area Controller has been able to build on the existing inter agency cordiality between customs and other government agencies like the Army, Immigration, Police, State Security Services, and the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (N D LEA).
Sources close to the command had told The Tide that aside enforcement and revenue generation, the command has also ensured that legitimate trade is facilitated in the interest of the national economy and the business community.
A strategic manpower management is in place with the command administration deploying its men in such a way that no company in the state
can operate under cover. With a manpower strength of over 270 officers and men, Sulaiman is working to optimally put the personnel to very effective and productive use. Detection of duty, evasion, policing the frontiers and maximally collecting all revenue due to the government has been his pursuit.
On the CGC’s achievement, Controller Sulaiman said the Comptroller General of Customs “if not to limit the power of God, the Customs can never get the kind of CGC we have today again”. Dr Alhaji Abdullahi Dikko Inde six point agenda is being fully implemented he added.
He fought and got enhanced welfare package for all of us. Training and re- training of officers has never stopped since he assumed office as the CGC”.
He further explained that the administrative policies of Dr. Dikko had really enhanced the performance of men and officers of the Nigeria Customs Service, most especially in the area of welfare, training. “Infact our dear CGC is one every organisation would dream to have as a boss. His style of leadership has given all men and officers of the service a sense of belonging. He is first customs CGC to build a world class Customs College after that of Brusell in the whole world were personnel allover the world come for training”.
