Monarch Bags Leadership Award
The Paramount Ruler and Nyenwe-Eli of Oginigba Community in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State, Eze G.B. Odum (JP), has added another feather to his crown, as the Joint Assembly of Rivers Youths, recently presented an Outstanding Performance in Leadership and Proficiency in Administration Award to him.
Presenting the award to the royal father in his palace last Wednesday, the National President of the body, Comrade Gashon Bob-Manuel said Eze Odum was singled out for the award because of the excellent manner he had been piloting the affairs of the Oginigba Community over the years, and the fact that the qualitative leadership he had been offering the people of the community had made it one of the most peaceful communities in the state in spite of its being host to several companies in the state.
Bob-Manuel explained that Eze Odum had been a worthy and astute leader “who has been contributing to the growth and development of Rivers State” and recalled that the paramount ruler and other leaders had stormed Zaria in 2003 to chart a way forward for the state.
Describing Eze Odum as a gold fish which has no hiding place, the youth leader noted that the royal father had been an embodiment of selflessness, wisdom, tolerance and patience, whom he said had sacrificed his time and energy in the service of mankind. In his acceptance speech, Eze Odum thanked the body for the honour, saying, when he visited Zaria in 2003 with other leaders, it never occurred to him that Rivers people were watching him. According to him, the award was a manifestation of the fact that a dancer does not see his back.
He admonished youths in the state to respect constituted authorities, saying, the youths also had a lot to learn from the elders.
Eze Odum also stressed the need for Nigerians to always exhibit the fear of God in all their endeavours, saying that it was only by so doing that injustice, corruption, fraud and other social vices would be eliminated in the country. Eze Odum expressed optimism that the sons and daughters of his community whom he alleged were being neglected and marginalized by companies and government would one day be remembered and carried along in the scheme of affairs.
In a vote of thanks, Dr Bright Amadi thanked the body for the honour done to the traditional ruler, describing the gesture as an honour to whom it was due.
A member of the Oginigba Council of Chiefs, Chief Stanley Dike, on his part, hailed the awad, saying, it was an honour well-deserved.
He urged Eze Odum to continue with his good works and to remain focused even in the face of opposition and tremendous challenges.
