Commissioner Lauds Teachers, Students In Public Schools
Teachers in public schools in Rivers State have been commended for their passion and efforts in imparting knowledge to students who won laurels at a quiz competition to make the Rivers State Governor, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi and Rivers people proud.
Commissioner for Education, Dame Alice Lawrence-Nemi disclosed this while receiving First Prize Quiz Competition laurels from students of GSS Elekahia and CSS Eleme, who participated in the quiz and Arts competition organized by the Ministry of Environment in Port Harcourt.
Dame Lawrence-Nemi said, the priority attached to the education sector aimed at providing better learning environment, infrastructures and facilities by the Amaechi-led administration has yielded positive results that are capable of moulding future generations.
“Amaechi is proud, because, when you praise or make investment, you expect to receive results, and I believe we will reap more. Even now, if we begin to show what happens in our public schools every week, people will be marveled because we have better cream of teachers that understand our system. In education, if you are not passionate, you cannot reap, you cannot be part of those that will mould future generations”, she said.
Dame Lawrence-Nemi explained that the Ministry of Education will reward the hardworking students who participated in the competition through local scholarships, and also urged the students to sit for the entrance examination into the Tai and Etche Model Secondary Schools to benefit from the free education policy of government.
Meanwhile, Sokari Goodness Ken of Community Senior Secondary School Alode Nchia-Eleme emerged first at the Art exhibition competition with the presentation of an aquarium, while GSS Elekahia emerged first at the quiz competition.
