RSUST, NDPR Donate Relief Materials To Ekpeye
The Rivers State University of Science and Technology (RSUST), has donated relief materials to Ekpeye Kingdom to alleviate the sufferings of the affected victims in the area.
Presenting the items to the Eze Ekpeye Logbo of Ekpeye land Eze Robinson O. Robinson, last Wednesday at the Palace of Eze Igbu Ahoada, Eze P. C. Ihua-Maduenyi in Ahoada town, the Vice Chancellor who was represented by the Bursar, Clington Maxwell, said they came to identify with the people of Ekpeye Kingdom and to share in the pains and sufferings of the people affected by the flood disaster in Ahoada East and West Local Government Areas of the State.
He said that their action was prompted by the enormous economic burden the situation has placed on the resources of the government at all levels and the Ekpeye Kingdom in particular, saying that it is as a result of this the institution made a token donation of relief materials ranging from bags of rice, bags of garri, litres of palm oil, cartons of tomatoes and bottled water, pepper among others.
Also speaking, the RSUST Public Relations Officer, Desmond Wosu, said that they came to sympathise with the flood affected victims and to commiserate with the Eze Ekpeye Logbo and the entire Ekpeye Kingdom.
Similarly, the management of Niger Delta Petroleum Resources Limited (NDPR) also donated relief materials which included, mattresses, bags of rice, garri and other essential commodities to support the welfare of the displace victims of the flood disaster in Ahaoda East and West Local Government Areas.
The NDPR Community Relations Manager, Sheidu Aiguedo said the donation was part of the Company’s social responsibility policy and hoped that their contribution will go a long way in assisting the victims.
In his response, the Eze Ekpeye Logbo, Eze Robinson O. Robinson, thanked the respective bodies for their gestures, noting that his fear is the faith of the victims when the water would recede, as they have lost their houses, farmlands, schools, resources, business and other sources of livelihood.
He urged government to fashion out sustainable measures that would ensure total rehabilitation of the people.
