Monarch Wants EFCC To Probe Contractors
The Otaru of Auchi, Aliru Momoh, has called on the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to investigate contractors handling the erosion control project in Auchi.
Momoh made the call when traditional rulers from Edo North paid a courtesy visit on the Oba of Benin last Thursday in Benin.
He noted that the erosion was becoming more severe everyday due to the alleged incompetence of the contractors handling the project.
“If the erosion problem in Auchi is not tackled, I am afraid that the town will be eroded in no distant future.
“I call on the EFCC and the President to investigate all the contractors that have handled the project in the past because, we know that a lot of money has been pumped into the project without result.”
According to him, different contractors have been awarded that particular contract with no result.
Momoh said they were in the palace to thank the Oba and celebrate the overwhelming landslide victory of Gov. Adams Oshiomhole in the just-concluded governorship election.
“We have come to appreciate your exemplary leadership qualities you have shown to all of us, you are indeed a father.
“We are not talking about the party but an individual who has performed beyond expectation; this is a victory for all the parties.”
The traditional rulers in chorus said thank you in their mother tongue which they described as the language of the ancestors.
