Re-United FC Advances In Maga Soccer Championship
The Re-United Football Club of Port Harcourt Township defeated its counterpart, George FC 5-2 in the on-going elimination series of the Comrade Kala Mega Soccer Championship at the Number. Six-Field Mini Stadium, Port Harcourt on Monday.
The encounter which started at exactly 5.00 pm saw the Re-United boys show a lot of determination and artistry in front of their opponent’s goal area. Eleven minutes into the first half, a striker of Re-United beat the offside trap by their opponent’s to score the first goal.
George FC, made several attempts but none was converted as the Re-United boys kept piling more pressure, and finally increased. The tally to three goals within a space of four minutes to the en of first hald.
On resumption of the second half, Re-United tried to score more but failed to convert their chances.
A penalty was awarded to George FC on the 78th minute which was converted to reduce the tally to 3-1. But substitute Edward Hillary, a striker came in to inflict more pains on George’s FC by scoring a brace to put the game beyond the reach of heir opponents.
Finally, a consolation goal was scored by George FC striker to end the game on 5-2 goals aggregate. As a result, George FC was eliminated from he Championship.
Speaking with Tidesports moments after the match, an elated Re-United coach, Mr. Sampson Lucky commended his boys and also said that the team worked according to plans and urged them to keep the tempo till the end of the tournament.

Iwobi Optimistic On S’Eagles Qualification
Iwobi spoke to Tidesports source ahead of Nigeria’s crunch playoff semi-final against Gabon on Thursday, November 13, in Rabat, Morocco.
The 28-year-old was reacting to Nigeria’s shaky World Cup qualifying campaign that saw the Eagles finish second in Group C behind South Africa’s Bafana Bafana.
“We’ve managed to rescue ourselves from the dead,” Iwobi told Tidesports source.
We know we have the players and the abilities to compete against any other country in the world.”
The Fulham star pointed to Nigeria’s star power, highlighting African Footballer of the Year winners Ademola Lookman and Victor Osimhen as proof of the squad’s quality.
“We have last year’s African best player (Ademola Lookman), the year before that (Victor Osimhen),” he said.
“It’ll be a shame if we don’t make it, but we have a lot of confidence. We just have to prove it to ourselves.”
Nigeria’s path to the United States, Canada and Mexico has been turbulent, with two coaches departing during the early stages of qualifying before Éric Chelle steadied the ship to steer the Super Eagles into November’s CAF playoffs.
Four nations from the continent – Nigeria, Cameroon, DR Congo and Gabon – will vie for a solitary spot to compete in next March’s inter-confederation playoffs, with a view to joining the already nine qualified African nations at the Finals.
It would mark Iwobi’s second appearance at the World Cup Finals and the Super Eagles’ first since the 2018 edition of the competition.
Back then, Iwobi featured in all three games as Nigeria was knocked out in the group stage.
