According to INEC, the state has 2,453, 857 registered voters.
In a related development, the Sokoto State chapter of the Congress for Progressive Change (CPC), has rejected the result of the Saturday governorship election in Sokoto State.
The Acting Secretary of CPC in the state, Alhaji Mustapha Ahmed, said his party “has totally rejected” the outcome of the election as declared by INEC.
He said the party would meet on Tuesday to decide the next line of action.
The running-mate of the ANPP gubernatorial candidate in the election, Alhaji Akibu Dalhatu, said his party would not accept the result of the election announced by INEC.
He also alleged that the election was marred by intimidation of his party’s supporters, insecurity and ballot box snatching.
Dalhatu, whose party had rejected the outcome of the election before it was officially announced, said top officials of the party would meet soon to consider the next line of action.
Meanwhile, President Goodluck Jonathan has congratulated the governor-elect Alhaji Wammako on his victory. The president urged him to continue his laudable rural development scheme for the people of Sokoto State.
