PDP Suspends Bayelsa Guber Campaign Rally
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has suspended its campaign rally for the 2012 Bayelsa gubernatorial election originally planned to take place in Yenagoa today.
The PDP National Campaign Committee for the election which has the Vice President, Namadi Sambo as chairman was expected in Yenagoa to flag-off the rally and hand over the party’s flag to Hon. Henry Sarieke Dickson, the party’s candidate for the February 11 election.
The suspension of the campaign rally according to a statement by the National Publicity Secretary of the party, Prof Rufai Ahmed Alkali was due to the sad events that took place in Kano last Friday and Bauchi yesterday in which many lives were lost and properties destroyed.
Prof Alkali in the statement communicated the message of the Acting National Chairman of the party, Alhaji Abubakar Kawu Baraje who condoled with the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Dr Goodluck Ebele Jonathan over the shocking event.
PDP would have flagged-off its governorship campaign in Bayelsa State today in preparation for the February 11 contest.
