NURTW Introduces New ID Cards For Members
The National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), says it has introduced a biometric enabled national database identification cards for its members.
The National President of the union, Alhaji Najeem Usman,said this while inaugurating the new executive members of the Zamfara branch of the union.
Usman, who was represented by the former chairman of Nasarawa branch of the union, Alhaji Aliyu Ibrahim, said the distribution of the identification cards would be centralised while only genuine members would carry one.
He said all state branches as well as their local council units must have a membership of at least 120 before it would be recognised by the national secretariat.
Congratulating the new executives, the state’s deputy governor, Alhaji Ibrahim Wakala, expressed government’s readiness to assist the union through vehicle loans.
This, he said, would ease transportation cost and provide more job opportunities in the state.
Our correspondent that the 16-members state executive, which would run the affairs of the union for the next four years has Ibrahim Mafara as Chairman and Abdullahi Muhammad as Secretary.
