Jonathan Extols Kurukurubo’s Qualities
President Goodluck Jonathan has extolled the qualities of late Elder Iyoyo Kurukurubo whom, he said, was a self-made man who invested in education through the training of his children, despite his humble background.
President Jonathan made the remarks at Okrika, in Okrika local government area during the funeral service of the Late Elder Kurukurubo at Saint Paul’s Cathedral (First African Church Mission) Okrika.
Jonathan who was represented by King Amalate Johnny Turner condoled with the son of the deceased, Mr. Samuel Iyoyo whom he described as a long standing friend of his family and also the President, Uniport Alumni Association, and prayed God to grant the family the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
Also speaking, the Commissioner for Information and Communications, Mrs. Ibim Semenitari said that the deceased left a good name and legacy.
Earlier, the officiating Minister, and Bishop of Okrika Diocese the Right Reverend Prince Abraham, described Late Kurukurubo as a devoted Christian who gave his life to Christ early, and was until his death an elder in Saint Paul’s Cathedral (FACM) Okrika.
The Bishop further enjoined Christians not to depart from the path of rectitude.
Presenting the biography of his late father on behalf of his family, the Director, Publications Department, Ministry of Information, Mr. Samuel Iyoyo described late Elder Kurukurubo as a patient man who waited for God’s time and through the business of buying and selling rose above his contemporaries.
He used the opportunity to express appreciation to President Goodluck Jonathan, King Amalate Jonny Turner of Opume, the Commissioner of Information and Communications, Mrs. Ibim Semenitari, the Permanent Secretary, Sir John Nalley, and the Permanent Secretary Employment Generation and Empowerment, Hon. M.O. Ekekenta, the General Managers of State-owned media establishments, head of various government parastatals, captains of industries, members of Uniport Alumi Association, Chairmen of the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ) and NAWOJ, Directors in the information Ministry and the entire mass media.
Elder Iyoyo who died at age 91 is survived by four sons, four daughters and several other relations.
