Princewill Lauds ACN Over Petition withdrawal
The former Leader of Action Congress (AC) in Rivers State and presently a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic party (PDP), Prince Tonye Princewill has commended the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) in the state for withdrawing its petition challenging the declaration of Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi as the winner of the April 2011 governorship elections in the state.
Prince Princewill who stated this in a press statement in Port Harcourt which was made available to The Tide described the withdrawal as a welcome development stressing that the action was a strong indication that ACN leaders were committed to patriotic ideals.
He explained that the gesture of Dr. Abiye Sekibo, the ACN governorship candidate in the April general elections in the state has shown that he is a true son of Rivers State adding that the decision to withdraw the petition was not easy one to make considering the explosive nature of electioneering campaigns between both parties.
Princewill therefore called on Sir Celestine Omehia, the governorship candidate of All Progressive Ground Alliance (APGA) in the April guber election in the state to toe the paths of honour by withdrawing his petition in the wake of ACN’s decision.
“We the Princewill Political Associates (PPA) also use this opportunity to urged the Rivers State Chairman and other leaders of PDP to set in motion plans for a reception to welcome these two great sons back to the fold of a house they joined hands to build and the only house whose language they understand”, the statement added.
