Govt Assures Private Sectors Of Open Business Transaction
The Executive Director of Rivers State Bureau for Public-Private Partnership Mrs Anita Laz Nwokeafor has reaffirmed government openness to public and private business transactions in Rivers State.
Mrs Nwokeafor made the declaration in a seminar meeting she held with the members of Port Harcourt Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (PHCCIMA) in Port Harcourt.
The BPPP executive director said as a way of promoting good governance Governor Amaechi’s led administration chose to encourage private investors willing to do business in Rivers State to achieve certain levels of development and called for collaboration with the Public Private Partnership in the development of Rivers State by increasing the employment generation potential of the State economy as well as strengthen human capacity development within the State,
According to the BPPP boss, the state government will provide an enabling environment for the private sector participation in infrastructural development adding that security will pose no threat in the State ‘citing an example of a project like the Adulphus Karibi Whyte Hospital with 500 beds in one, built and managed by private sector pointing that government only get involved by promoting a well functional system of planning and efficient management of public assets,
Laz-Nwokeafor disclosed that government on her part will create opportunities for the private sectors to participate in the infrastructural development of the state, ranging from education, health and agriculture adding that government will play an active role of regulating the private sector involvement,
In his response the President of PHCCIMA engineer, Vincent furo pledged the readiness of the PHCCIMA to partner with government to achieve its desired goal, adding that his chamber will set up a committee to discuss and dialogue with the state government on a way forward and thanked the BPPP boss for fixing this seminar to enlighten them on the functions of the bureau.
