Kalabari’s Endorse Amaechi
Delegates to the Peoples Democratic Party {PDP} Governorship Convention from the three Kalabari speaking Local Government Areas of Asari-Toru, Akuku-Toru and Degema have joined others in adopting Governor Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi as their sole candidate for the January 9th, gubernatorial primaries.
The adoption at Abalama Tuesday came following a motion moved by Hon Otelemeba Amachree of the state House of Assembly and seconded by his counterpart from Akuku-Toru Constituency I, Hon Onari Brown.
Similarly, delegates from the four local government areas of Orashi region comprising Ahoada East, Ahoada West, Abua/Odual and Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni at Ahoada Town endorsed him. Senator Wilson Asinobi Ake representing Rivers West Senatorial District moved the motion and was seconded by Mrs Betty Apiafi of the House of Representatives.
All the delegates from the Kalabari and Orashi regions said they accepted to endorse Governor Amaechi because one good turn deserves another, stressing that they could not have a better candidate than the incumbent governor who is needed to return to consolidate on the good work he has started.
Addressing the delegates from the three Kalabari speaking local government areas, Governor Amaechi emphasised the need to enhance the relative peace already achieved in the state especially in the Kalabari areas and appealed to them to support the government that was responsible for the attainment of such peace.
According to him “we need to allow peace to reign in the state and have a peaceful environment that would allow business to thrive” reminding them that there was a time when they could not sleep well because of violence until government decided to confront those behind it.
The governor, who highlighted his achievements especially in the areas of Education, Health, Roads among others, promised that the model secondary schools in the three local government areas would be completed while the aspect of the Trans Kalabari Road leading to Bakana would be constructed this year, assuring them that if they voted for him during the primaries and the governorship election, he would do everything to transform the area.
At Ahoada Town, the state chief executive told the delegates from Ahoada East, Ahoada West, Abua/Odual and Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni local government areas that if they voted for him he would come up with a new system of government that would get back to the people to decide what they want.
He explained that his principle was to allow the people choose who they want so as to guarantee a credible election, appealing to the people to vote him so as to enable him consolidate and complete the model secondary schools in the four local government areas.
