2011: CNPP Wants Uwais Report
Alhaji Yinka Olona, Chairman, South West Chapter of the CNPP, yesterday called for the full implementation of the Justice Mohammed Uwais Electoral Reform Report.
He made the call in Ibadan while speaking to our correspondent.
Olona, who is also the Chairman of the UNPP in Oyo State, said if the reform was fully implemented, the 2011 elections would achieve 70 per cent credibility.
The chairman, who agreed that government should not fund political parties, said such parties would die naturally after the 2011 elections.
He declared support for independent candidacy as being proposed in the reform, saying it would allow those with grassroots base to fulfill their political aspirations.
Olona expressed confidence in the leadership of President Goodluck Jonathan, noting that his leadership style had transcended partisanship.
He commended Jonathan for re-awarding the Oyo/Ogbomosho section of the Ibadan-Ilorin express way project and appealed to the Federal Government to complete other abandoned projects in the state.
