RSG Assures On Motorable Roads
The Rivers State Government has reiterated its resolve in ensuring that the city of Port Harcourt and its environs were pothole free and motorable all year round.
Works Commissioner, Hon. Dakuku Peterside who gave the indication while addressing newsmen in his office commended the citizens for their understanding during this period of massive road rehabilitation programme tagged “Operation Zero Pothole in the state.
Hon. Peterside said government is not unaware of the traffic inconveniences experienced by the public, assuring that in line with the policy thrust of the Governor Chibuike Amaechi – led administration, measures have been put in place to alleviate the suffering of commuters to the barest minimum.
He sued for their continued support and co-operation by collaborating with the Ministry in reporting bad spots to the Operation Zero Pothole monitoring committee through text messages.

It would be recalled that a five man Operation Zero Pothole monitoring committee was inaugurated in the Ministry and charged to oversee the activities of contractors and the Ministry’s Supervisory engineers at sites, interface with the public and also give independent report on the success or otherwise of the programme.
The committee has Dr. H.A. Goni as Chairman, Nyeche Ndubisi (Secretary), while Eugene Abel, Sir Kelvin Nnokam and Michael Ogolo are members.
