Ikeja NBA to honour Amaechi, Fashola, Saraki
The Ikeja branch of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) will honour three governors as part of activities to mark its week.
Governors to be honoured are Babatunde Fashola of Lagos, Rotimi Amaechi of Rivers and Bukola Saraki of Kwara.
Briefing news men on Friday in Lagos, the NBA Chairman, Mr Dave Ajetomobi, said a public presentation of a book written in honour of Fashola would also be part of the programme.
The book is entitled: “Law, Politics and Development: The Challenges of an Emerging Megacity; Essays in Honour of Babatunde Raji Fashola (SAN).’’
Ajetomobi said the weeklong celebration would hold between April 26 and May 2.
The book presentation on April 27, he said, was in recognition of the sterling qualities of Fashola and his contributions to the state and the branch.
“This is our own way of celebrating one of our own who has brought so much honour to the legal profession by his leadership style and achievements,” he said
Ajetumobi said Amaechi and Saraki would be honoured at the Annual Bar Dinner slated for May 1 due to their outstanding performance.
He also said the annual Alao-Aka Bashorun lecture would feature in the programme with the theme: “In Search for the Soul of the Nigerian Nation.”
Ajetomobi further said that speakers at the lecture, scheduled for April 29, included Gov. Adams Oshiomole of Edo.
The Chairman of the organising committee, Mr Monday Ubani, said the state’s Chief Judge, Justice Inumidun Akande, had granted courts leave not to sit next week to allow participation by lawyers.
Ubani said the programme would commence on April 26 with a visit to the Kirikiri Medium Security Prison.
