PDP, Proud Of Amaechi – Ake

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Rivers State has expressed satisfaction with the performance of the state government under the leadership of Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi for the tremendous record of achievement within two years in office.
State Chairman of PDP, Chief Godpower Ake, made the remark yesterday when he led other party officials at the state and local government levels to pay the governor a solidarity visit at Government House, Port Harcourt for the two years of fruitful service to the state, and to further encourage him to do more for the people and the party.
“We are really very proud of your performance and that is why we felt, we should come before the day you will be two years in office to tell you that we are proud of you”, the party chairman said.
He noted that the 23 local government areas of the state have truly felt the impact of good governance and pledged the party’s support to the administration.
According to him, “we are in a democracy, it is the party that won election, it was clearly stated in your judgment that individual candidates do not win election, but the party”, and commended him for what he has done for the party.
‘Responding, Amaechi, thanked the Party executives for the visit, stressing that the achievements were collective effort of the party and Rivers people, and not a personal effort.
Governor Amaechi assure them that before December, some of the on-going projects would be completed, because a lot of them have achieved 70 percent completion, pointing out that the major problem that hampered road construction was this year’s heavy rains, expressing the hope that with the dry weather, some would be completed.
The Governor said contract for the Trans-Kalabari road which was earlier cancelled would soon be re-awarded to a more competent contractor, while that for street lights in Port Harcourt has been awarded to ensure a brighter city.
He also disclosed that the state government would be launching its emergency call number on October 26, 2009, which would aid persons in danger, either health, security or fire, to dial 112, and help would come from relevant departments.
“I think that if election is won by performance, PDP would not have problems in subsequent elections in the state”, Governor Amaechi said adding that the present government is determined to build a new city.
According to him, no state government in the federation is involved in building a new city except Lagos and Rivers while the projects earmarked for the new Greater Port Harcourt City have commenced such as the new state University, new hospital as well as stadium.

HoS Hails Fubara Over Provision of Accommodation for Permanent Secretaries

The Head of Service (HoS) of Rivers State, Dr. Mrs. Inyingi S. I. Brown, has commended Governor Sir Siminalayi Fubara, GSSRS, for approving befitting accommodation for Permanent Secretaries in the state.
This commendation was contained in a press release made available to newsmen in Port Harcourt.
According to the Head of Service, Governor Fubara has continued to demonstrate uncommon commitment to the welfare of civil servants in Rivers State, stressing that such gestures underscore his people-oriented leadership style. She urged civil servants across the state to remain supportive of the governor’s administration in order to sustain good governance and effective public service delivery.
Speaking on behalf of the Body of Permanent Secretaries, Dr. Brown congratulated Governor Fubara on the occasion of his 51st birthday, describing him as “a Governor who leads by serving.”
She further praised the governor’s service-driven and people-centred leadership approach, noting that it has significantly contributed to institutional stability and improved efficiency within the state’s public service. Special appreciation was expressed for the approval of a befitting accommodation complex for Permanent Secretaries, which she said reflects the governor’s commitment to staff welfare and enhanced productivity.
As part of activities to mark the governor’s birthday, the Body of Permanent Secretaries announced the sponsorship of 329 Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) forms for indigent students across the state.
A breakdown of the initiative shows that 319 forms will be distributed across the 319 political wards in Rivers State, while five forms are allocated to non-indigenes and five forms to persons living with disabilities.
Interested applicants are advised to contact the Office of the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Education, for further details.
The Body of Permanent Secretaries wished Governor Fubara continued good health, divine wisdom, and greater accomplishments in his service to the people of Rivers State.

Allegation of Disrespect to President Tinubu Unfounded — Rivers Government
