Arch-Bishop Warns Christians On False Doctrines
Christians have been charged to live by faith and not by what they see. Thy have also been warned to beware of false doctrines which emphasize prosperity, signs and wonders more than the salvation of the soul.
The Archbishop of Christ Healing Church of Nigeria (CHCN), Most Rev(Dr) Benjamin A. Obomanu (JP), made the call recently in his goodwill message to the 2nd Diocesan Knights/Elders Council conference of the church at St’ Nelson’s Cathedral Church, Ikot Abasi, in Akwa lbom.
In the message titled “Beware Lest You Forget The Lord Thy God”, Obomanu, who is also the Bishop of the Port Harcourt/lkot Abasi Diocese of the church, noted that the proliferation of churches that preach false doctrines is the fulfillment of the scriptures which warned in Mathew 24:4, “take heed that no man deceives you”.
Warning the Knights and Elders of the church to test every spirit to know if it is from God, the prelate charged them to shun secret societies and look unto Jesus, the author and finisher of their faith.
The Archbishop commended the Knights and Elders for their role in the field of Christian work, evangelism and unification of the church and appealed to them to do more.
According to him, the church has, in the past four years been also putting in efforts to equip its knights and elders to play their roles effectively, especially in the regular provision of THE GOOD KNIGHT magazine to its Knights and promised to sustain the gesture.
Obomanu enumerated the achievements of the church to include its registration with the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) and the Organization of African Instituted Churches (OAIC), nationally and internationally respectively.
He announced that Knights and Elders constitute a higher percentage of members billed to make the maiden pilgrimage to Jerusalem from the church this year, and urged them to reciprocate the gesture by committing more resources to church work and evangelism.
The prelate also tasked them to, as a matter of priority, provide a new vehicle for evangelism in the church, noting that to whom much is given, much is also expected from.
Earlier, the President, Council of Knights and Elders of CHCN, Sir (Chief/Hon) Victor A.D. Green had expressed appreciation to
