30 Investors For Wakirike Summit
More than 30 foreign & local investors have indicated readiness to attend the 2nd Wakirike Leadership Transformation Summit billed for Ogu Town, headquarters of Ogu/Bolo Local Govt area of Rivers State.
The investors are among other technocrats, captains of industry, academics, professional bodies & Wakirike elite scheduled to tinker ways of harnessing the area’s abundant mangrove and sea resources and further strengthen the ‘Back To School’ education campaign launched after the first summit held at Okrika, last year.
Addressing the expanded executive of Wakirike Se Kobiria, the apex leadership forum of the Okrika Divisional Council of Chiefs(ODCC), Ogu/Bolo local govt council of Chiefs, the elite, women & youth groups of Wakirike Nation, the forum’s Chairman, Chief S K A T kalaowolo said a team of vibrant resource persons has also lined up speak at the summit.
They include Prof(Mrs) Rose Obuoforibo. Chief Senator George Thompson Sekibo, the Igo Alabo of Ogu Kingdom, Dr. Solomon Ibulubo, Prof(Mrs) Mildred Amakiri & Professor Oruwari among others.
Chief Kalaowolo, who is also the Chairman of ODCC told meeting of the Wakirike Se Kobiria expanded Exco in PortHarcourt, Wednesday that traditional rulers will be in attendance.
He used the occasion to invite Wakirike people at home and in the diaspora to grab the opportunity offered by this year’s summit to attend to join in articulating ways and means of addressing the fluctuating fortunes of their fatherland.
As fall out of last year’s summit, Chief Kalaowolo said, a ‘Back To School’ campaign was launched, adding that this years summit would further strengthen that effort & also tinker ways of making the school environment more attractive and condusive for learning.
The theme of this year’s summit is: ‘Wakirike Institutional Transformation: Setting The Next Positive Agenda’ but will give ample time for speakers and investors to brainstorm on steps necessary to tap from the rich mangrove and sea reserves, as a means of creating employment and boosting the local economy.
The summit shall be in two parts: the official opening which shall attract top government officials, royal fathers and other Senior citizens, while the second shall be the business session where highly researched papers shall be presented and later discussed by various syndicate groups.
A communiqué and an economic blue print are expected at the end of the summit.
