Three Arrested Over Alleged Possession Of Ammunition
Three men, Ahmed Fatai, Olashile Bajulaye and Tajudeen Abubakar were arraigned in Lagos, yesterday for being in possession of four live cartridges.
The trio are facing two counts of conspiracy and being in unlawful possession of ammunition before an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court in Lagos.
The Prosecutor, Sgt. Godwin Awase told the court that the accused committed the offences on June 20 at CMS Marina, Lagos.
“The accused had in their possession cartridges without valid license issued by an appropriate authority.
“Following a tip-off, policemen stormed their hideout and on sighting the policemen, the accused took to their heels.
“Three were arrested with the cartridges while their leader who was in possession of their gun escaped,” the prosecutor said.
The offences contravened Sections 330 and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
Section 330 stipulates seven years imprisonment for being in possession of firearms while Section 411 prescribes two years for conspiracy.
The accused, who were residents of Ajah, Lagos, pleaded not guilty.
The Magistrate, Mr. F.F George, granted the accused N100,000 bail each with two sureties each in like sum.
George said that the sureties should be gainfully employed and show evidence of two years tax payment to the Lagos State Government.
The case was adjourned until September 10 for mention.

RSG INAUGURATES ARMED FORCES REMEMBRANCE DAY COMMITTEE
The Rivers State Government has inaugurated a Central Planning Committee to organize the celebration of the 2026 Armed Forces Remembrance Day (AFRD) in the State.
The committee was formally inaugurated by the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Benibo Anabraba in Port Harcourt, last Thursday.
Dr Anabraba who also serves as Chairman of the Committee
highlighted the State Government’s deep appreciation for the sacrifices of Nigeria’s fallen heroes who laid down their lives for the nation’s peace and unity.
“These heroes have given their lives for the security and peace of our nation and deserve to be celebrated. The Armed Forces Remembrance Day is an opportunity to show our gratitude for their sacrifice,” he said.
Dr. Anabraba further extended recognition to all Security Agencies in the State, emphasizing the importance of the event in appreciating their contributions to national security and sovereignty.
The annual Armed Forces Remembrance Day, observed on January 15 across the country is dedicated to remember Nigeria’s departed soldiers and honouring the nation’s veterans.
