No Relegation For NWPFL Clubs
The Management of
Nigeria Women Premier Football League (NWPL) has announced that there would be no relegation from the top flight for last season as the new season has been scheduled to commence on the 31st of March this year.
These were part of decisions contained in a communiqué released after a meeting of the NWPFL Board last month.
According to the communiqué, the decision not to relegate any club owes to the small number of the top flight clubs and the effect of the disturbances in the North-Eastern part of the country that affected the league season.
It was also stated that there would be a promotion of two clubs from the pro-league division to the Premier League to bring the total number of premier league clubs to 14 for the 2015 league season. It would be recalled that the former date was fixed for 28th February, this year.
Meanwhile, the 2014 League Champion of Champions between league runners-up Prelican Stars of Calabar and FA Cup winners Rivers Angels FC of Port Harcourt would soon be decided.
