Lawmaker Donates Books To Schools In Khana
The Councillor representing Ward 14, Uegwere Boue in Khana
Legislative Assembly, Hon. Kparikpa Friday Neeka, has donated some note books
and other educational materials to primary and secondary schools in the area.
Presenting the books to the beneficiary schools during a
thanksgiving service organised in his honour at Uegwere Boue, the Councillor
said the gesture was to assist students in the area with educational materials
to promote academic excellence.
He urged the students to take their studies serious so that
they can come out with flying colours.
The councillor, who also donated wrapper to widows in the
ward, assured the people of effective representation and attracting the
dividends of democracy to the grassroots.
In his remarks, the Chairman of the occasion, Mr. Honour
Sirawo, commended the councillor over his gesture, and described the initiative
as complementary to the educational development agenda of the Rivers State
Government.
Sirawo, who is the media aide to the Executive Director of
the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) called on the administrators of
the beneficiary schools, to ensure that the materials provided are not hoarded,
but given out accordingly to the students.
He also called for effective monitoring of student’s
activities to ensure that they are not involved in anti-social activities that
would make them derail in their academic work.
