Artist Urges Corporate Partnership In Talents Dev
A lecturer in Fine and Applied Arts at the Catholic Seminary, Port Harcourt, Mr. Ilesammi Micheal Olusola, has called on corporate organisations and government agencies, such as the Niger Delta Development commission, (NDDC) and ministries of youth affairs to invest in the development of the arts to promote creativity and enterprise development in Nigeria.
Speaking with newsmen at the Catholic Seminary Port Harcourt, during an arts exhibition recently, Ilesanmi, said art was the foundation of every profession which if properly developed will lead to excellence in career development.
According to him, “Nigerians are highly creative, and youths should be encouraged to embrace the arts, to fully develop budding talents and enhance National integration”.
Ilesanmi explained that without a proper understanding of the arts, the development of other professions will be stunted.
He pointed out that, engineering medicine, Architecture among other professions, count on the arts, as their drawing and designs need to be interpreted artistically.
The arts lecturer, decried the lack of interest in the arts, nothing that there was dearth of creative artist.
He said veteran artists such as Bruce Onobrakpaye among others, made a mark in life through the artist, and noted that there was need to replace them, as most of them are at there twilight age.
Ilesanmi, whose works of arts are mostly abstract, said he chose to communicate his messages through abstract forms, to decode the mystery of life. He noted that astractious differentiate the arts from photography.
