The Media Officer of the Flamingoes, Gracious Akujobi, has described the victory of the Falconets over their Zimbabwean opponents in Harare as an affirmation of their supremacy

Akujobi told newsmen on Monday in Lagos that the victory came against the backdrop of the Zimbabweans threat to replicate what the Falconets did to them in Abeokuta

She stated that the team had to go all out to prove to their opponents that they were no match for them.

“Beating them at their home ground showed that the victory in Abeokuta was no fluke; the victory was a well  deserved one, am so happy for the girls,’’ Akujobi said

The media officer added that the girls would not take things for granted as they continue to brace up for new opponents in the next round of the qualifiers.

She stressed that the team’s victory over their Zimbabwean opponents should sound as a note of warning to their future opponents.

“Defeating Zimbabwe with a 6-0 aggregate will send shock waves to our next opponents, we are no pushovers,’’ Akujobi said.

She, however, implored the girls to be dedicated in their bid to eventually qualify for the Female U-20 World Cup in Japan.

“They should not be over-confident; they should sustain the tempo and improve on it,’’ Akujobi said.

When asked to make a comparison between male and female soccer in the country, she said that the female teams have always made the country proud.

“Female football has always done well for Nigeria.

“I cannot start comparing the two, but I know and Nigerians know that female football has put Nigeria football in the sport light.

“In all the tournaments they featured in, they always get to the quarter final, the senior female are presently the defending African champion, the U-20 team played in the finals at the World Cup.

“The U-17 got to the quarter final of the last world cup, this is to tell you the level of commitment by the girls,’’ Akujobi said.
