Coach Seeks RSG’s Support For Grassroots Clubs
The Coach of Ambassadors FC of Port Harcourt, Abiye Tamunoiyalla has appealed to Rivers State Government to show support for clubsides in the lower division football leagues in the state.
Tamunoiyalla, made the appeal during an interview with Tidesports in Port Harcourt last week.
According to him, football was a business that brought people together and such a unifying sport needs finance, time and commitment to ensure its rapid growth.
“The game is also capital intensive and needs to be nurtured, but the most important of aspect is the financial support which fixes a team the stand to grow from strength to strength so I am begging the government and corporate bodies in the state to do their best in developing football in the state”, he appealed.
He continued that the Nigeria football Leagues were different from the European League due to the way they were packaged.
Coach Tamunoiyalla, however, said that if the government would come in to encourage the grassroots teams in the lower leagues, the growth of football would improve tremendously.
