RSG, NDDC Plan Mega Hospital For PH

The Rivers State Government in conjuction with the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) plans to build a mega hospital in Port Harcourt, as soon as arrangements are concluded.

The Special Adviser to the governor on NDDC matters, Dr Godknows Tam George made this known recently, after being sworn-in for the second time by Governor Rotimi Amaechi at Government House, Port Harcourt.

Dr Tam-George explained that the regional hospital would be built solely for Rivers State but is expected to cover the region in its services.

He disclosed that a site has been approved in Port Harcourt for the project, but declined to give the cost of the project.

The Governor’s adviser stated that the siting of the project was as a result of long term neglect of the state by the federal interventionist agency noting out that the era of siting small projects was over in the state.

In the words of Dr Tam-George,” we need mega projects that Rivers State Government can partner with NDDC and what the NDDC can do for Rivers State Government.”

“ We also want to make sure that henceforth projects from the body emanate from the grassroots” he added.

Commenting on his achievements so far as adviser on NDDC Matters, the Okrika-born environmentalist submitted that he was able to curtail project duplication.

This he stated was achieved through synergy with NDDC authorities following the set up of a special Committee on NDDC which comprises of State Ministries, agencies and parastatals that collaborates on projects execution.

He further remarked,” if you comapre the first term and now, you will see some level of improvements because of what we are trying to look at now the body would embark on mega projects now.”

The Governor’s aide however assured that in his second term efforts would be geared towards ensuring that the federal government interventionist body goes beyond executing small projects to ones that would impact on the lives of the citizenry immensely.

HoS Hails Fubara Over Provision of Accommodation for Permanent Secretaries

The Head of Service (HoS) of Rivers State, Dr. Mrs. Inyingi S. I. Brown, has commended Governor Sir Siminalayi Fubara, GSSRS, for approving befitting accommodation for Permanent Secretaries in the state.

According to the Head of Service, Governor Fubara has continued to demonstrate uncommon commitment to the welfare of civil servants in Rivers State, stressing that such gestures underscore his people-oriented leadership style. She urged civil servants across the state to remain supportive of the governor’s administration in order to sustain good governance and effective public service delivery.

Speaking on behalf of the Body of Permanent Secretaries, Dr. Brown congratulated Governor Fubara on the occasion of his 51st birthday, describing him as “a Governor who leads by serving.”

She further praised the governor’s service-driven and people-centred leadership approach, noting that it has significantly contributed to institutional stability and improved efficiency within the state’s public service. Special appreciation was expressed for the approval of a befitting accommodation complex for Permanent Secretaries, which she said reflects the governor’s commitment to staff welfare and enhanced productivity.

As part of activities to mark the governor’s birthday, the Body of Permanent Secretaries announced the sponsorship of 329 Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) forms for indigent students across the state.

A breakdown of the initiative shows that 319 forms will be distributed across the 319 political wards in Rivers State, while five forms are allocated to non-indigenes and five forms to persons living with disabilities.

The Body of Permanent Secretaries wished Governor Fubara continued good health, divine wisdom, and greater accomplishments in his service to the people of Rivers State.
